Could
you help the Bali Animal Welfare Association to raise
the funds
needed to buy a much need Animal Ambulance
We
rely on the Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA) in Ubud for their
assistance when
we find a sick or injured animal in need of medical
care. They, like us, are a Not for Profit
charity and rely on the
kindness and support of others, to carry out their compassionate
work.
BAWA
desperately needs to buy another ambulance to cope with the influx of
calls it
receives about dogs such as the dog in the photo below.

This
dog was abandoned and destined to die a terrible death due to its
injuries after being
hit by a motorcycle. She was spared spending the
days of her life in terrible pain, thanks to
the availability of the
BAWA ambulance and their team. There are many dogs in need of
need of
urgent help.

The
current animal ambulance, that rescues and provides urgent medical
care and treatment, is run off its tires
and is unable to
handle all the call-outs that come into BAWA. Not only that, it is
getting old and frequently breaks down.
If
you would like to help them in their fund raising appeal, please go
to their Website http://www.bawabali.com/
Below
is a copy of their Christmas Newsletter for December 2010.

Dear
Friends and BAWA Supporters,
2011
is upon us and all of us at Bali Animal Welfare Association
(BAWA)
want to thank
you for your kind support
in 2010. It has been a difficult year for many worldwide so we
are especially grateful for your donations.
Every
rupiah, dollar and ounce of energy has helped us toward
achieving important goals. Without any government support and
only because of donations, this year we have:
Sterilized
almost 1700
animals
Medically
treated more than 2000
animals
Adopted
out more than 650
animals to loving homes
Vaccinated
more than 100,000
dogs for rabies
Fed
45,000
dogs in our street feeding program
Purchased
lifesaving rabies medicine for nine people (mostly
children) who may have died a horrible rabies death without
out them. And raised money for others. The medicine costs
about $500 US for a five-year-old child and much higher for
adults, so therefore most Balinese could never afford the
treatment.
Responded
to more than 2200
emergency calls in our 24 hour ambulance
Rescue
all animals that come our way, for example 17 deer on the
verge of starving to death, as well as bats, monkeys, birds
and horses
Educated
more than 8000 children
in responsible pet ownership and rabies awareness (7600
in public primary schools and 520
in international schools)
But
the need is ongoing. That is why we are
asking you for help this Christmas Season...
